I was born in Robbinsville,N.C. in May of 1959. I grew up in a small town where there was no theatres, no mall, no fine restaurants, club, etc. The only thing that we had for what I would consider entertainment was football and basketball games at the high school. I played both sports from elementary school all the way through high school. That did not take all of my free time so I started playing drums when I was eight years old. When I was eleven I started playing with some organized high school students around town. When I was fourteen I got my first professional job as staff drummer for the "Fontana Ramblers" at Fontana Village, N.C. I played there until I was eighteen years old and the went to college at Western Carolina University. I went on a football scholarship so I did not have a whole lot of free time, but there were some other players on the team that were musicians so we started our own band called "Make Believe" which eventually went on to play on Ed McMahon's "Star Search". After we all got out of college and got "real jobs" we went our seperate ways. Most of the guys are still playing music and staying in touch and on occasion still get together and play.
